Useful information on exemption planning guidelines are as follows:

Note: 25m2 of open space to rear is a requirement. Any less will require planning.

  1. 40m2 rear extension is exempt from planning.
  2. 25m2 garage to rear of property is exempt from planning and is not for habital use.
  3. Attached garage can be converted to main house and is exempt from planning. The existing garage area will then become part of the 40m2 exemption.
  4. Front porch of up to 2m2 is exempt from planning.

Planning will be required if the above guidelines are not followed
